As a full-time woman business woman, a single mum for nearly 10 years and a full time juggler of things and life I’ve always looked for time saving, efficiency busting resources to make my life easier. I am always looking for time saving tips and processes to help me become more efficient and effective.
These 11 top resources, have helped to keep my small business organised and running efficiently and effectively.
*** ALL THESE ARE SIMPLE TO USE, TIME SAVING, EFFICIENCY BUSTING APPLICATIONS TO SUPPORT YOUR BUSINESS ***
Genius FREE resource to help you build relationships and do business when working remotely. I use this for telephone calls, coaching sessions, catching up with friends – its genius and FREE! I can build effective relationships – globally, and most importantly you get to see the person you’re talking to. Upside – you can do business in your PJs with a business top on. 🙂
I love ZOOM, a lot of my work is sharing content and I flippin love this platform. I can share my screen, hold trainings, share data and the best thing is I can record it all to use at another time. I can use it on my laptop or my phone – its flexible and so so easy to use! I can then share it by email or social media – its brilliant!
A great way to keep track of your business finances is to use a company or platform such as ZERO. You could also look at QUICKBOOKS but I love love love the simplicity of Xero. Its easy to use, straightforward, I can easily brand my invoices and it looks so professionally. I can keep a track of my business on the go, on the website or an app on my phone.
4. RECEIPT BANK
Go paperless with Receipt Bank. You get to take a picture of all your paper receipts and they bin the paper – no more envelopes stuffed with old paper receipts! You can download the app onto your phone and do it on the go. AND when I receive an invoice by email I can email it straight to Receipt bank – no printing it off anymore! It all uploads to their cloud – its approved by the UK HMRC and its genius. You can look at it on your laptop, organise and create spreadsheets – no more wasted hours of inputting numbers and trying to remember what was what! Better still you can sync with Xero and give your accountant / bookkeeper access to it all – genius!
I’ve been using Linkedin for 10+ years and its a critical business resource. Its essential that you have a profile – people won’t take you seriously if you don’t! Its the “go to” place to check out your business reputation, credentials and experience. You can connect with people in your industry and in organisations you want to connect with.
Do you lose business cards, or collect them, like a magpie and forget who or where you net them? Insightly is a fantatsic resource for saving and managing your contacts among other uses. It’s been great and time saving for me, whenever I add a contact name or email into my iphone contacts and send their email to Insightly using a specific Insightly address that I’ve got, their email and contact are saved in Insightly straight away! I LOVE it 🙂
I love using Mailchimp, again another FREE resource to help you connect with your audience and communicate. You can build your email “list” using this system and keep your clients up to date with you and your business.
I love Trello as it helps me plan, list and organise all of my tasks. Its FREE and has a great app. You can create boards, which are like a “project white board” so you can group all your thoughts and tasks together. You can share your Trello with others in your team or collaborators or clients – its genius.
OMG why didn’t I find this earlier. It’s FREE and its got a great app. I can track and time all my actions. Great for a master procrastinator and gives real visibility to what you’re spending your time on and what you’re not doing. It allows great analysis of what you’ve done. So Trello to plan and Toggle to review. Its made me so much more productive – I have clear visibility of how much daytime TV I watch and FB surfing.
I have a love hate relationship with Hootsuite. I love it because I can schedule my social media and I can bulk upload a months activities. I hate it because the visual streaming is confusing to look at and a but overwhelming.
11. BACK UP YOUR BUSINESS
Finally lets back up your business – your blood swat and tears – your IP – your business!
I love both Google Drive and Dropbox and they are fantastic resources for back-ups – I save everything onto a cloud platform. Fortunately I have never lost files, but have had plenty of friends who have – don’t play risk with your data and all your hard work!
